Responsible for ongoing familiartiy with emerging and existing technologies that may have relevance to Waggener Edstrom Worldwide Inc. from a service delivery perspective. Functions as a technical expert for several critcal deployed services. The Sr Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administrative maintenance, monitoring, and management of Network Engineering services which include network devices, UPS, Polycom hi-def video conferencing and telephones.
Responsibilities:
- The Sr.Network Engineer is responsible for the coordination and execution of their own low-high imact Network Engineering projects – The Sr. Network Engineer will act as a technical project manager or as an assistant project manager on Network Engineering projects and may partner with TS teammates on external projects
- The Sr. Network Engineer is called upon to contribute goals for Network Engineering’s 3-year technology vision and investment plan. Called upon to contribute to the develop technical policy, standards, processes, and monitoring related to IT operations and projects.
- Is responsible for understanding the business requirements in the event of a disaster in order to design, document, and implement a Network Engineering oriented Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan to meet these requirements. Responible for guiding the Network Engineering team in acting upon the Disaster Revcovery and Business Continuity plans.
- Contributes to operating and capital budget items for the Network Engineering team in preparation for annual budget planning. Will prepare project budgets including vendor negotiations, vendor engagement management, and initiate capital purchases. May be called upon to assist with hardware warranty contracts, Cisco Smartnet, and other service contracts.
- The Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for driving security best practices and positive change by understanding the agencies business objectives, researching how to best protect, recommendation of projects, exectution of projects, with a eye on continuous improvement. Will be responsible for following and recommending security policies, standards, processes, and monitoring. The Sr. Network Engineer will participate in the CIRP as a member of the CIRT and may be called upon to fill in for EM.
- Responsible for mentoring all junior members of the team by providing training, documentation, technical, and non-technical on-the-job coaching. The position has an opportunity for direct people management.
- May work directly with employees on support needs and when required, take tier 1 support requests.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in computer science or equivalent work experience
- 8 years of experience with global, multi-site, MPLS and Cisco infrastructure
- Professional certifications in one or more of the flowing is desired: CCNP
- Cisco Routers, Cisco L2/L3 Access/Distribution/Core switches, Cisco ASA firewalls with SourceFire, Cisco WAPs & WLC, Cisco Prime, Cisco Web Security, Riverbed WAN Optimization, Avaya CM phone systems, SIP, H.323, Nexpose Rapid 7, Solarwinds Orion, Polycom Path Navigator, Wireshark, MPLS, IPSEC VPN, PRTG, Routing Protocols including BGP/OSPF/EIGRP/RIP/Static
- Proven abilities in:

- Customer Service
- Additional requirements include:
- Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week on occasion, sometimes unplanned, occasional weekends.
- Must be able to travel to other Waggener Edstrom Offices on occasion.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds over your head.
- Must be able to crawl on hands and knees for 15 minutes.
- Must be available for after-hours support via cell phone and remote access services.
- Must have strong customer service skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Must be willing to handle constantly changing job priorities and a very fast work environment.
- Must be willing to constantly re-educate and re-certify on rapidly changing IT technologies.
- Must be able to use copier, phone, fax, and personal computer.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is preferred.
- Client and business environment: Customer service orientation is a must. Job pressure may exist from requirement of handling multiple tasks.
