Waggener Edstrom, one of the world’s largest independent PR and integrated communications companies, is in search of a top-notch Account Manager to service our Microsoft consumer campaigns work. As an Account Manager, you will create, manage and execute consumer PR campaigns with consumer media, tastemakers and consumers on behalf of Microsoft. Through storytelling, branded integrations, seasonal campaigns, social media, events and more we partner with our clients to drive brand recognition, relevance and resonance on a global scale. We create integrated communication programs that leverage our extensive influencer relationships, incorporate our deep understanding of consumer trends and focus on achieving desired results.
Responsibilities:
Influence:
- Identify, build, maintain and grow relationships with consumer media and up and coming influencers
- Develop, review and pitch stories and content
- Influence and garner coverage through proactive negotiation
- Model and coach junior level account staff “best practices” in successfully engaging with influentials
- Oversee & enforce consistent adherence to media management processes: media lists, coverage monitoring, and industry coverage trends
Client Service:
- Provide strategic and tactical counsel to clients that map to client’s business problem
- Grow and maintain client relationships – serve as primary day-to-day contact with clients and proactively engaging on issues
- Lead/own projects that demonstrate strategic planning and creative thinking as well as drive news and launches for events
Agency Business:
- Develop budget/utilization management and resourcing skills and understand the impact to team and agency
- Identify opportunities for cross-team integration/collaboration
- Share POV, knowledge and experience across team through presentations, brown bag sessions or development courses, etc.
- Support new business efforts to secure new consumer clients for the agency
Digital & Global:
- Digital strategies are an expected component of the agency’s strategic thinking, communications plans, and client/influential engagement; everyone is expected to apply a digital mindset as part of how WE think about communication strategy People
Management:
- Coach & train junior level staff
- Manage up & educate more senior staff on day-to-day business & account health
Qualifications:
- Typically at least 5 years’ experience in communications– in an agency or applicable industry
- Minimum of 3 years integrated communications management & execution experience, including developing plans, launch strategies, product positioning, pitching stories, negotiation, budget responsibility, media training, messaging & creative tactical ideas
- Demonstrated creative & strategic mindset
- Made presentations to groups of all sizes; pitched new business
- Strong organizational skills & ability to multi-task, work in a team environment, and meet deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree required & Master’s degree preferred in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or related field
