Waggener Edstrom Communications, one of the world’s largest independent public relations and integrated communications agencies, is seeking a Sr. Account Executive to join our team. In this role, the candidate will focus on corporate, financial and executive communications as well as issues management. The ideal candidate will have at least six years of experience in communications– in an agency &/or industry, including experience managing crises, issues and executive communications. He/she will also have experience in financial communications helping a company highlight its financial performance through quarterly earning storytelling while also possessing a strategic mindset, great writing and organizational skills and a high level of initiative. The best positioned candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be creative and ambitious, and demonstrate strong intellect, work ethic and diligence. They will also have a great sense of humor, curiosity and know when it is time to celebrate and have fun!
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
- Identify, build & grow relationships with media/influencers; begin to have exposure to key senior level influencers
- Solicit & share feedback/perception from media & influencers regarding client(s), competition & position in the industry in order to counsel clients & inform actions
- Anticipate client communication challenges & develop recommendations
- Consistently provide strategic & tactical counsel that maps to client’s business problem
- Serve as primary day-to-day contact with clients; proactively engage on issues
- Manage projects and news announcements with little guidance
- Report issues with scope of work to leads & make recommendations on ways to resolve
- Manage issues and media requests both quickly and strategically
- Develop & execute integrated communication plans with little guidance
- Collaborate with colleagues and business leads to integrate & drive best results for all parties
- Coach & train junior level staff
Qualifications:
- 3-4 years’ experience in communications, preferably in an agency setting &/or within applicable industry
- Ability to drive client relationships, providing strategic & tactical advice, drafting/executing plans, providing thoughtful analysis, identifying proactive opportunities, crafting materials, tracking coverage
- Some issues management experience
- Demonstrated ability to establish strong client relationships
