Account Planning – Job Profile and Description
Account planners are the architects of insights and inspiration. They know consumers, society, business, culture and brands more than their peers in the company and in client’s company. They are an integral part of the marketing communication process. They contribute some important functions like research, brainstorming, planning, brief writing and internal and client presentations. Account planners are the key personnel for the development and execution of a great marketing and communications strategy. They work as a part of the bigger brand team and keep interacting with team members and client. Account planner possesses qualitative research skills and knowledge of marketing strategy. They conduct market research and filter data to create marketing campaign related opportunities.
Position of a strategic planning director is that or responsibility and ownership. It is critical because a strategic planning director works independently with limited support from seniors in the planning function. He needs to develop solid overall understanding of various disciplines and be able to work beyond across functions.
Associate Planning Director – Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviewing/writing questionnaires.
- Conducting, supervising qualitative and quantitative market research and reviewing research reports.
- Developing and presenting marketing communication proposals
- Using Ogilvy planning tools like FusionTM and BigIdealTM and training younger planners and account teams to use these tools
- Designing and reviewing qualitative and quantitative research plans
- Writing and reviewing creative briefs and leading creative briefing process
- Presenting to client and internal teams
- Writing marketing and communication white papers
- Writing effectiveness and creative cases
- Working with media and research companies
- Leading the integrated brand team (PR/Activation/Digital) for pitch and other large projects.

Education and Qualification
- Candidate should have a master’s degree in marketing, sales or business.
