Overview of Business:
The MS OEM Team handles both PR and Social Media components of the business and acts as an integrated communications team for our Microsoft clients. The role of the team is to evangelize and promote the health of the Microsoft 3 rd party partner landscape, showcase the breadth & depth of the device ecosystem and to amplify the latest and greatest devices being introduced by Microsoft’s partners. Infuse Windows OS messaging and highlight how Microsoft enables partners to differentiate their offerings through services, security and by enabling increased productivity. Cross Microsoft team integration is essential as devices are at the heart of the consumer experience. We accomplish this through creative storytelling, facilitating strong cross team integration at both the agency and within Microsoft, direct communication with Microsoft’s partners, amplification of partner and Microsoft messages via social media as well as serving as experts about the PC ecosystem for all-up Microsoft account team.
Job Summary:
The account executive/senior account executive position on the team is primarily focused on acting as daily client contact and for managing tactical project execution related to key tradeshows including IFA, CES and Computex where partners are launching new devices as well as around Microsoft campaigns that include partner devices or partnerships with Microsoft top MNAs. Another key element of the role is actively integrating with key stakeholders within the agency and at Microsoft to ensure partner devices are represented within relevant campaigns, tours, events and media opportunities. At the core this person needs to develop expertise and evangelize partner devices, understand device categories and trends, and have the ability to compare devices and speak to differentiating specs. This is a skill that can be learned over time but will be an expectation for this position. This role includes providing oversight and coaching to an AC as it relates to reporting and social media strategy/content creation. Finally, beyond the OEM Team specific work, the OEM team is part of the OS team and contributes around key Windows launch milestones and to key activities such as managing reactive issue and contributing to corporate-driven processes like the SNS. Other key attributes of a qualified candidate include the ability to multi-task, being a self-starter, being proactive, having strong organizational skills, attention to detail, taking a creative/innovative approach, and having a positive attitude.
Responsibilities:
Influencer Engagement
• Serve as day-to-day contact for media/influencers; share knowledge
• Conduct outreach relevant to integrated marketing or other campaign tactics
• Oversee management of reactive requests, proactively influence & garner coverage
• Contribute to brainstorms & strategic campaign development
• Provide timely and in-depth analysis of coverage results & trends
Digital & Social Media Acumen
• Assist in creating high-level digital/social media strategies that are integrated into communication plans
• Engage with agency digital & monitoring divisions regarding client projects & deliverables
• Amplify/promote news on social properties; update & maintain social editorial calendar
Client Engagement
• Begin anticipating client communication challenges & develop recommendations
• Contribute to development & implementation of communication strategies
• Execute tasks associated with projects; may lead certain aspects of project
• Oversee client meetings, agendas & recaps
• Begin to understand clients’ business model from a global perspective; understand key markets, global influencers and the impact on client/business narrative
Business Acumen & Strategic Thinking
• Contribute to plans & own executing portions of a plan • Identify opportunities for cross-team integration
• Share POV, knowledge & expertise with the team/ agency through presentations, brown bag sessions or development courses, etc.
New Business Development
• Become familiar with WE capabilities across the agency including global region specialties in comparison to competitor agencies
• Serve in a lead research role on organic growth new business efforts including sourcing and gathering audience, industry or competitor market data
• Understand & identify potential opportunities to grow & diversify existing account
• Begin to develop and nurture network of peer contacts outside the agency
People Leadership
• Begin gaining management skills by mentoring junior level staff
• Be a peer resource to staff, interns & new hires
• Manage up to senior staff
Qualifications:
• Typically at least 2 years’ experience in communications, preferably in an agency setting or within applicable industry
• Strong presentation & research skills
• Established influential relationships; social media presence
• Has written & developed materials, including integrated communication plan(s)
• Strong organizational skills & ability to multi-task, work in a team environment, and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in computers & standard office applications (Microsoft Office is preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree or above preferred in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or related field
