Introduction:

The Economist Group’s thought leadership and content marketing business produces high quality editorial content for a wide range of global corporate clients.  The team sells content programs addressing business and geopolitical trends to senior marketing and communications executives in a diverse range of industries.  

 

We are currently seeking a Senior Thought Leadership Editor / Business Strategy in Chicago to produce compelling thought leadership and research-based B2B content marketing programmes, particularly focused on all aspects of business strategy, which could include vertical industries such as professional services, manufacturing and healthcare.

Accountabilities:

In the role you would be expected to:

  • Develop ideas for client-sponsored content that is often research-based. This includes developing rationale and strategy for proposed deliverables
  • Ensure the integrity and objectivity of the analysis and interpretation of events and information
  • Ensure that the projects are completed on time, on budget and maintain the high editorial standards of the Content Solutions Unit / Economist Intelligence Unit
  • Work closely with clients other divisions of the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) to ensure our full editorial capabilities are leveraged to deliver the most robust possible content
  • Maintain high levels of editorial quality and rigorous attention to client, writer and colleague follow-up
  • Support editorial and sales teams in drafting of large-scale proposals for sponsored research projects in the Americas (US, Canada and Latin America), conducting the degree of background and subject-matter expert research to generate stimulating, on-brand research ideas
  • Conduct the necessary desk research to ensure the accuracy, currency and comprehensiveness of the information in published reports
  • Work with the global editorial and research teams to research, draft and analyze online surveys related to sponsored research projects and interpret the results
  • Give meaningful and constructive developmental editing feedback to writers.
  • Manage costs for client sponsored-research projects
